Week 9: Ansonia 51 Wilby 22

The Chargers are now 9-0 overall, 6-0 in the NVL Brass, with a 51-22 win over the Wilby Wildcats.

Ansonia led 32-0 after one quarter of play. Sophomore RB Arkeel Newsome had five touchdowns for Ansonia (3 rushing: 56, 7, 14 yards; 1 receiving: 35 yards; 1 punt return: 69 yards).

Senior QB Elliot Chudwick went 5-for-7 for 107 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those TDs fell into the hands of junior WR Andrew Matos (30, 45 yards).

Senior DE Jake LaRovera recovered two fumbles for the Chargers.

Freshman Jai'Quan McKnight also recovered a fumble and sprinted down the Chargers' sideline for an 81-yard TD run in the second half.

Ansonia's will face the Holy Cross Crusaders for the NVL Championship on Thursday, November 17th at 6:30 p.m. The game will be at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury.

Ansonia on Traditions TV

Ansonia Football was featured on a television show on Sports New York (SNY) called Traditions. The Traditions crew filmed the Chargers as they practiced leading up to the game versus Watertown. Past and present coaches and players were also interviewed.
