Joseph E. Potter Memorial Fund
Joseph Edward Potter, 49, passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2011. He was the dearest son of Sophie Potter and the late Laurence E. Potter. A graduate of Ansonia High School, Joe went on to Brown University where he excelled as quarterback on the football team, and graduated with a degree in economics. He went on to receive a master's degree in business administration from the University of California-Los Angeles. After a long career in finance in California and New York City, Joe returned to Fairfield University where he earned a degree in education. Joe spent the past eight years teaching mathematics to elementary school students, most recently at the Rippowam Cisqua School in Bedford, N.Y., where he also coached several sports.
Joe was inducted into the Ansonia High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Brown University Athletic Hall of Fame, and was also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement award from the UCLA Business School.
In honor of Joe, loved ones have established the Joseph E. Potter Memorial Fund. The fund will provide a $500 annual grant to the most deserving Ansonia High School male and female graduating senior entering the field of education. The tax deductable fund will be administered by the Valley Community Foundation and awarded each year by Ansonia High School.
In order to make the fund self-funding, they need to raise $20,000. They are already on our way so please be generous with your donation in Joe's memory.
